Launched black power movement (1966), explained in Black Power: The Politics of Liberation in America (1967; with Charles Hamilton); advocated armed revolution; initially worked with Black Panthers, but broke from party in 1969; moved to Guinea (1969), worked for Pan-Africa movement, and changed name.
